We have made the difficult decision to end our outdoor program operations by April 30th, 2024, and shift our energy toward more accessible options such as residential treatment. Thank you for your support over the years. We have brought healing to over a thousand families since we opened in 2013. We have so many fond memories of the lives saved and improved by the power of our nature-based, relational, trauma informed programming.   Over the last couple of years many barriers came up that limited access to our services, including lack of funding sources, a negative spotlight on outdoor therapy, and Oregon legislation. We recognize that students and families are in need. Our community fought admirably to limit these barriers and bring the highest quality of mental health care to our young people and families.

Free by the Sea is a dual diagnosis addiction treatment center located on the Washington Coast. We provide a continuum of care including residential, partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and outpatient services (OP). Our peaceful setting has inspired a program of holistic healing, designed to meet your individualized needs. 30, 60, and 90+ day programs available, with options for long-term care and sober living. Our sober living accommodations provide a safe and supportive environment to further establish and reinforce a routine in recovery while utilizing specific coping skills to thrive in your daily life. The campus is just steps away from the beach, offering an abundance of recreational activities such as pickleball and volleyball. Mindfulness skills are incorporated throughout the program to deepen attunement with self and others, and to emphasize the importance of being present in each moment life. A meditation room is available to those who want to deepen their meditation practice, or to simply have some moments of silence. Yoga and sound baths are optionally available for those interested in deepening their mind, body, and spirit connection.

At THIRA, we specialize in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and even have Dr. Kathryn Korslund (a key researcher and developer of DBT methods and training) on staff. Originally developed at the University of Washington by Marsha Linehan, Ph.D., DBT was first designed to treat interpersonal chaos, intense emotional swings, impulsiveness, confusion about the self (identity), and suicidal behavior. It is based on a bio-social theory that states that problems develop from the interaction of biological factors (physiological makeup) and environmental factors (learning history), which together create difficulty managing emotions. DBT is therefore appropriate for a range of additional problems that relate to emotion dysregulation such as depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, anger-related problems, and substance use problems. A great deal of research has been conducted on the effectiveness of DBT and, in general, DBT appears as effective or more effective than other “talk based” psychotherapies for the problems mentioned above.

For people who value a personalized approach to treating opioid addiction, medication-assisted treatment (MAT) may be the most beneficial option. MAT combines counseling and the use of prescription medications that can help ease the symptoms of opioid withdrawal. When MAT was first offered in the United States, methadone clinics were limited to prescribing one type of medication to help patients stop opioid use without experiencing painful symptoms. Today, approved MAT providers like Grays Harbor CTC can offer multiple medication options. At our opioid addiction treatment center, we can prescribe methadone, buprenorphine, or Suboxone based on a person’s needs and medical history. All medications used as part of MAT are FDA-approved. We provide Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Outpatient services for people of all genders 18+ with eating disorders and disordered eating. Opal offers mental health counseling, nutrition counseling, family therapy and psychiatric services at all levels of care. We now provide non-clinical, free lodging for our PHP and IOP clients. At Opal clients receive holistic, relational based care that is responsive to research and grounded in a Health at Every Size approach. We are in-network with most major insurance companies.

Longshore is one of a select few advanced residential mental health treatment programs in Seattle with expertise in treating complex psychiatric issues. We are physician operated program that is also licensed to provide highly advanced psychiatric treatment options such as ketamine and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). We also are a trusted treatment program for ILWU members and their families. Our philosophy is to minimize medications and provide one on one intensive treatment in an intimate small group environment. We service all adult ages and also offer specialty treatment tracts that address the unique needs of seniors, chronic pain sufferers. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based treatment proven to help teens struggling with emotion dysregulation, self-harming behavior, suicidal ideation, and other mental health issues. Evolve’s Comprehensive DBT residential treatment center is the first of its kind in California and one of only a handful in the entire country. Many of our teens struggle with depression, anxiety, trauma, borderline personality disorder, addiction or other high-acuity issues.
