The Ascension Center for Mental Health (formerly Alexian Brothers) in Arlington Heights, offers an array of outpatient services.Individual therapy is available for children, adolescents and adults, including couples and family therapy. Other services include medication management with a psychiatrist, case management services, vocational rehabilitation, supported education and transitional and supportive living arrangements. In addition, for those whose symptoms are increasing, we offer an alternative to an in-patient hospitalization. Our Partial Hospitalization Program/Intensive Outpatient Program consists of a small group program daily from 9-3 for approximately three weeks, individual therapy and medication evaluation and monitoring. This program teaches coping skills in a safe environment, helps to reduce negative thinking, and offers therapy with others who are struggling with similar conditions. This program allows individuals to receive treatment without being too far removed from their support network and responsibilities. For out-of-state families, we conduct family therapy sessions via HIPAA-compliant video conference. We also provide daily academic support to help your adolescent stay on track with school.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) has a high, research-proven success rate for adolescents with depression, anxiety, high emotional sensitivity, self-harming behaviors, and/or suicidal ideation. At Evolve Vanalden, we don’t just learn DBT—we live it. Our Comprehensive DBT treatment program is suited for teens ages 12-17 who struggle with these and other mental health, behavioral, and/or substance abuse issues. Evolve is one of the only treatment centers in the country that offers a Comprehensive DBT residential program for teens. We incorporate all four Comprehensive DBT requirements: individual & family therapy, 24/7 in-the-moment skills coaching, skills training groups, and a weekly consultation team. Teens learn the four core skills of DBT: Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Interpersonal Effectiveness, and Distress Tolerance and benefit from weekly psychiatric supervision, daily academic support, and daily experiential therapies including equine, surf, drama, music, art, yoga and more.
