Calo Programs offers residential treatment for adolescents and teens that is uniquely focused and specially equipped to treat students and families impacted by traumatic experiences which occurred in the developmental period, such as adoption, chronic stress, and inconsistent care from caregivers. These adolescents struggle to be in healthy relationship with family and peers, experience emotional dysregulation, and often fail to maintain safe behavior in school or at home. With a foundational focus on safety and creating repetitive experiences of co-regulation through relationship, our students begin the journey towards developing a healthy sense of self. This enables them to engage with the resources and relationships that they have previously rejected.

At Evolve, we provide the highest caliber of evidence-based treatment for teens aged 12-17 struggling with dual diagnosis, depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, ADHD, self-harming or high-risk behaviors, suicidality, and other mental health/behavioral issues. Our emphasis on safety and individualized attention are reasons why so many families from all over the country choose Evolve. Our primary therapeutic modalities include Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Teens participate in individual and family therapy at least 5 times a week, weekly psychiatry sessions, and daily groups (on DBT Skills Training, Anger Management, Seeking Safety, and Relapse Prevention), as well as learning coping skills and participating in daily academics. For families from out-of-state, we conduct family therapy remotely. Evolve Vanalden is a Comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Residential Treatment Center: the first of its kind in California and one of only a handful in the country. DBT is an evidence-based treatment that has been proven to help reduce emotion dysregulation, self-harming behavior, and/or suicidal ideation. We treat teens diagnosed with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, borderline personality disorder, addiction, or other issues. Evolve's robust clinical program includes individual and family therapy (at least five scheduled 1-hour sessions a week), DBT Skills Training Groups (4 times a week), and skills coaching (24/7). Teens learn and practice the four core skills of DBT: Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. At Evolve, we don't just learn DBT, we live it. We are a community-based program where our students learn independent living skills through the support of our team of mentors. Our therapeutic support system provides the essential social and life skills required to become productive members of your family and community. We provide custom-fit treatment that allows us to serve a wide spectrum of individuals and we offer support for individuals with diagnoses including, behavioral, cognitive, medical, addiction, and educational challenges.
