Since 2002, our wilderness therapy program has helped young people and their families to thrive. Located in the North Georgia and Western North Carolina mountains, Blue Ridge’s licensed outdoor program provides sophisticated clinical treatment in an immersive nomadic wilderness model. Foundational transformation for families occurs through utilizing individualized clinical treatment, together with intensive family-focused support, and whole-body health and wellness.

The foundation of our programming is our team of compassionate and highly experienced behavioral healthcare professionals. The Newport staff is comprised of the best mental health leaders in the country, surrounding each client with 360-degree care. Because Newport’s philosophy of care views family as central to long-term, sustainable healing, the groundbreaking Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT) methodology is also a central component of our approach. ABFT is proven to be successful in addressing adolescent and young adult suicidality by repairing ruptures in the parent-child relationship. Our clinicians receive ongoing training and consultation from ABFT’s co-founders, and are also trained in a wide range of other evidence-based and trauma-informed modalities, including EMDR, DBT, CBT, and ACT.

The Insight Program is a drug and alcohol treatment center designed for young people ages 13 – 25. The Insight Program is committed to the idea that addiction to or dependence on alcohol and other drugs is a serious problem and should be treated as such. Insight is a private program which is twelve step based and offers a network of interacting services including a fee based intensive outpatient program and an 18 – 24 month support group. The Insight Program is committed to the idea that drug and alcohol abuse affects the entire family and therefore offers counseling and support groups for parents. The Insight Program has been in operation since 1987. Insight continues to be successful with teenagers and young adults because of its unique understanding of the issues that lead young people to abuse drugs and alcohol. Insight’s focus on family issues with recovery also sets it apart as the leader in the drug and alcohol rehabilitation field.

Shepherds Hill Academy (SHA) is a CARF accredited and Georgia state-licensed and accredited, nature-based, therapeutic boarding school. Our 12-month program provides 24/7 and 365 care with a 5-to-1 student-to-staff ratio for teen boys and girls ages 12-17. Our gender-separate programs each have a maximum capacity of 18 students. A unique faith-based approach and authoritative community provide an unplugged environment to foster healthy relationships, alleviate anhedonia, and promote identity formation. Students work through the challenges of life for a successful future where our certified teaching staff offers quality education and career enrichment. At SHA, 80% of our academic graduates go onto post-secondary education; 69% of our students who required medication have been able to significantly reduce or be fully taken off their regimen after their time at SHA; 5% of our students who actually needed medication were able to start the proper regimen. SHA students who take the SATs are above National Averages in all three subjects: Reading, Math, and Writing.

The discovery of recovery is an experience that includes group challenge, personal responsibility and brotherhood. Purple's research proven, intensive, 4-6 month residential program promotes successful long-term recovery through its gradual step down in intensity prior to independent apartment living. The clients are immersed into a recovering community of graduates (alumni) and staff, responding to client needs in real time. Each person participates in daily morning reflection, life skills development and five weekly intensive group sessions that provide an opportunity to address addiction issues and to mark their progress in their recovery plan.
