Muir Wood Adolescent and Family Services treats teen boys and girls ages 12 – 17 experiencing substance use and mental health conditions. Our campuses are beautiful, home-like settings in Sonoma County, Clovis and Riverside, California, where clients enjoy camaraderie, benefit from intensive integrated therapy, and enjoy recreation and experiential therapy activities. Boys and girls are treated and housed separately to eliminate drama and distraction. This program provides comprehensive, evidence-based care for teens experiencing a range of behavioral healthcare issues, including substance use disorders, anxiety, OCD, depression, mood disorders, and suicidality. Programming is trauma-informed to create a safe and supportive atmosphere where teens can feel open and comfortable engaging in treatment and focusing on their care without distractions. Our Comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) residential treatment center in L.A. is perfect for teens ages 12-17 who struggle with mental health, behavioral, and/or substance abuse issues. Dialectical Behavior Therapy has a high success rate in adolescents with depression, anxiety, high emotional sensitivity, self-harm, and/or suicidal behaviors. Our program incorporates all four requirements of a formal Comprehensive-DBT program: individual/family therapy, 24/7 in-the-moment skills coaching, skills training groups, and weekly staff consultation team. (For out-of-state families, we conduct family therapy sessions via HIPAA-compliant video conference.) In our skills-training groups, teens learn the four core skill-sets of DBT: Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Interpersonal Effectiveness, & Distress Tolerance. Adolescents benefit from psychiatric supervision, academic support, and experiential therapies: equine, surf, drama, music, art, yoga and more. While our primary modality is DBT, we also incorporate CBT, 12-Step Supports, Relapse Prevention, PTSD treatment, and other evidence-based modalities depending on your teen’s clinical needs.

Sustain Recovery offers a unique approach to adolescent care. Unlike a typical residential treatment program in which the length of stay is 30-90 days, Sustain Recovery offers Gender Separate Extended Care treatment for clients recently completing a primary treatment program, or clients needing a longer-term solution. Our minimum length of stay is 90 days however many clients can be with Sustain Recovery for 6 months or more, but can vary based on our residents progress and individual needs.

Evolve Treatment Centers supports adolescents ages 12-17 struggling with mental health, addiction, and/or behavioral issues. Evolve Vanalden is a Comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Residential Treatment Center: the first of its kind in California and one of only a handful in the country. DBT is an evidence-based treatment that has been proven to help reduce emotion dysregulation, self-harming behavior, and/or suicidal ideation. We treat teens diagnosed with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, borderline personality disorder, addiction, or other issues. Evolve's robust clinical program includes individual and family therapy (at least five scheduled 1-hour sessions a week), DBT Skills Training Groups (4 times a week), and skills coaching (24/7). Teens learn and practice the four core skills of DBT: Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. At Evolve, we don't just learn DBT, we live it.
