Evolve San Diego treats teens ages 12-17 struggling with mental health, addiction or behavioral issues. We specialize in teen depression, anxiety, trauma, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, conduct disorder, ADHD, personality disorders, dual diagnoses, suicidality and other issues. Many of our teens have difficulty regulating emotions and are engaging in high-risk/self-harm behaviors. Evolve's team of highly qualified, licensed clinicians and medical professionals utilize evidence-based approaches such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to teach teens practical skills for distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and improved impulse control. Through individual therapy, family therapy, group sessions, psychiatry, parent support, and experiential therapies (including art, music, yoga, fitness and more), your child will learn ways to manage stress, communicate appropriately, and lead a more fulfilled, productive life. Our programs are suited for teens who need a higher level of care than weekly psychotherapy, or for those looking for an appropriate transition from residential/inpatient treatment. 

Insurance covers up to 100 percent of the treatment and therapeutic modalities that Newport Academy offers. We accept all major insurance providers and work collaboratively with payers to optimize coverage for families. Many adolescents who receive treatment from Newport Academy using insurance coverage do so through a Single Case Agreement, a special contract through which out-of-network providers can work with a family’s insurance company on an In-Network basis. Newport Academy maintains a full-time, in-house team dedicated to supporting families through the mental health insurance coverage and financing process. In order to secure sufficient insurance coverage, we will most likely need to conduct a series of clinical reviews and any requested doctor-to-doctor calls with the insurance company. While other facilities may charge for this service, we feel it is our responsibility to assist families with what can be a complex process. Our goal is to ensure that families receive the maximum coverage, so they can access the highest-quality treatment.

HillsidesCares offers comprehensive mental health treatment for children and adolescents ages 6-17 struggling with mild to severe mental health challenges. We treat clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, self-harm, anger management, ADHD, bipolar disorders, oppositional defiant disorders, co-occurring addiction, and other emotional and behavioral issues. Our full continuum of care provides the exact level of treatment that’s best for each individual based on their specific needs ranging from the most intensive to the least intensive clinical services: Inpatient Residential, Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). At Evolve, we provide the highest caliber of evidence-based residential treatment for children and adolescents ages 12-17 struggling with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, dual diagnosis, self-harming or high-risk behaviors, suicidality, aggression, trauma, and other emotional/behavioral issues. Our primary modes of treatment are Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy integrated with Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Behavioral Activation, and other data-driven modalities. We believe treatment works best when it is individually tailored. Our clinical staff conducts a comprehensive evaluation of each teen pre- and post-admission in order to develop a detailed treatment plan that considers the client’s individual history and symptoms. Our robust clinical program includes individual and family therapy, psychiatry, academic support, and daily groups (on DBT Skills Training, Anger Management, Relapse Prevention, and Seeking Safety). Children and teens also participate in experiential therapies: equine-assisted therapy, music, art, fitness, yoga, and more. We also offer 12-Step/ SMART Recovery programs for those struggling with dual diagnoses or addiction.

Evolve Treatment Centers supports adolescents ages 12-17 struggling with mental health, addiction, and/or behavioral issues. Evolve Vanalden is a Comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Residential Treatment Center: the first of its kind in California and one of only a handful in the country. DBT is an evidence-based treatment that has been proven to help reduce emotion dysregulation, self-harming behavior, and/or suicidal ideation. We treat teens diagnosed with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, borderline personality disorder, addiction, or other issues. Evolve's robust clinical program includes individual and family therapy (at least five scheduled 1-hour sessions a week), DBT Skills Training Groups (4 times a week), and skills coaching (24/7). Teens learn and practice the four core skills of DBT: Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. At Evolve, we don't just learn DBT, we live it. Red Hawk Behavioral Health is a residential treatment center for adolescent girls, ages 12-17, who are experiencing future-impacting relational or emotional difficulties brought on by trauma. Limiting our care to 24 girls allows more attention to be given to each girl by our therapists and trained staff. An individualized therapeutic plan and focused care helps our residents move to a better place mentally and emotionally in a much shorter period of time, alleviating the difficulties they are currently experiencing in their lives. Our program helps each young woman find positive new ways to manage life’s obstacles and traumas that have strained their well-being and relationships in the past.

Havenwood Academy, a long-term residential treatment center in Southern Utah, specializes in treating young women who are struggling with complex trauma and attachment related issues. We work with (assigned female at birth) children from age 12 to 18 and often work with adoptive families.

Strengthening authentic connections with self and others—including healing disruptions in the parent-child bond—is at the heart of our treatment approach.
