At Evolve, we provide the highest caliber of evidence-based residential treatment for children and adolescents ages 12-17 struggling with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, dual diagnosis, self-harming or high-risk behaviors, suicidality, aggression, trauma, and other emotional/behavioral issues. Our primary modes of treatment are Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy integrated with Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Behavioral Activation, and other data-driven modalities. We believe treatment works best when it is individually tailored. Our clinical staff conducts a comprehensive evaluation of each teen pre- and post-admission in order to develop a detailed treatment plan that considers the client’s individual history and symptoms. Our robust clinical program includes individual and family therapy, psychiatry, academic support, and daily groups (on DBT Skills Training, Anger Management, Relapse Prevention, and Seeking Safety). Children and teens also participate in experiential therapies: equine-assisted therapy, music, art, fitness, yoga, and more. We also offer 12-Step/ SMART Recovery programs for those struggling with dual diagnoses or addiction.

For families from out-of-state, we conduct family therapy remotely. We offer daily experiential activities proven to support recovery (e.g. equine therapy, surf, art, drama, music, yoga, etc.) and 12-Step/SMART Recovery programs for those struggling with dual diagnoses. We offer gender-affirming care for LGBTQ+ and transgender teens.

We treat children, age 8-19, who are suffering from the following: Suicidal Thoughts, Self Harm/Cutting, Anxiety Disorder, Depression, ADHD, Autism, Gender Issues, Disruptive Disorder, Mild and Moderate Eating Disorders, Divorce/Family Problems, Personality Disorders, LGBTQ+ Related Issues.  We do individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, and psychiatry in a comfortable upscale setting in Costa Mesa or via telehealh. We accept health insurance and we make treatment affordable. We have telehealth available for children anywhere in the state of California. We do not treat addiction, we do not accept addicts into the program. Your child will not be exposed to the influence of drug addicts during group therapy at OC Teen Center and California Teen Center. We have flexible schedules. In addition to offering PHP and IOP we offer a program with 3 days per week instead of 5. We don't kick you out the door early, most kids stay for 6-12 months, sometimes longer. We also offer therapy for parents.

While it’s sometimes mistaken for perfectionism or germaphobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a serious mental health condition that is typically diagnosed in adolescence. It can cause extreme distress and anxiety and interfere with every aspect of a teen’s daily life. Newport Academy provides tailored treatment plans to heal the underlying causes and symptoms of OCD in teenagers. Our OCD programming for adolescents also addresses common issues that occur alongside OCD, such as generalized anxiety disorder, body dysmorphia, social anxiety, and panic disorders. Our OCD treatment incorporates Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy, considered the gold standard of care for OCD. In addition, our teen treatment plans for OCD include psychiatric care and medication management, family therapy, experiential activities like art and music therapy and outdoor adventures, and a robust academic component.

Evolve San Diego’s partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs treat teens ages 12-17 with mental health, addiction, dual diagnosis, and/or behavioral issues. Our licensed, specialized staff utilize evidence-based treatments such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), individual and family therapy, multifamily groups, psychiatry, and daily group sessions and psychoeducation (on topics such as DBT Skills, Relapse Prevention, Anger Management, and Seeking Safety.) We also integrate therapeutic modalities for addiction recovery, such as DBT for Substance Abuse, 12-Step support programs, and SMART Recovery. Many of our adolescents struggle with emotion dysregulation and high-risk, self-harming or suicidal behaviors. DBT is research-proven to help reduce these issues. Through DBT, we teach our patients the skills needed for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, improved impulse control, and effective communication.
