Newport Academy treats clients aged 12-20 who are struggling with teenage depression, teen anxiety, eating disorders, trauma, and teenage substance abuse.
Strengthening authentic connections with self and others—including healing disruptions in the parent-child bond—is at the heart of our treatment approach. Teens in our outpatient and residential programs build self-compassion, resilience, healthy coping skills, and more trusting relationships with parents and peers. Each client’s individualized treatment plan is informed by their specific needs and history and designed by mental health treatment specialists who are the best in their respective fields. Teens are surrounded by 360-degree care, with a team that includes a psychiatrist, individual therapists, family therapists, experiential therapists, and other experts focused on treating underlying issues and external manifestations of mental health conditions. Moreover, our outcomes research sets us apart, continually validating the positive impact of our treatment model despite the increasing acuity of clients’ diagnoses.

In addition to providing general psychotherapy, we have strong specialties in Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy, including clinical work with young people who have been sexually, physically, or emotionally abused; a Trauma Team specializing in psychotherapy with survivors of rape, early sexual or physical abuse, domestic violence or other developmental or adult traumas; a Couples Team offering pre-marital counseling and psychotherapy for couples experiencing marital discord; therapists who work with individuals with Chronic Pain or Illness and their caretakers; and a therapist who focuses on psychotherapy with individuals and couples who have been faced with Infertility or Pre-, Peri-, or Post-Natal loss of trauma, including post-partum depression.
We at Presbyterian Psychological Services are committed to seeing every person who seeks our services in a holistic way: as body, mind, spirit an as embedded in a particular cultural history and environment. We respect each individual's uniqueness and work with him/her to honor each domain of their lives. We also believe no two therapeutic journeys are alike. Rather, they reflect the particular interactions of client and therapist. Therapists and clients enter into a relationship in which, when all goes well, "more" becomes possible -- more life, more play, more love, more feeling, more thought, more self-knowledge, more choices, more reflection.

At Rebound Behavioral Health, we offer inpatient treatment for adults age 18 and older who are struggling with mental health concerns and addictions. Inpatient treatment typically lasts five to seven days and is a short-term program that can help people stabilize and learn techniques for managing their symptoms. Clients in our inpatient program can receive consistent monitoring and assistance from a team of experts in a safe environment. In inpatient programming, clients may participate in multiple evidence-based therapies, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). The care we offer is outcomes-driven and addresses the unique needs of each client so that it can lead to the best results. When someone has completed inpatient programming, we support their continued healing by providing them with an aftercare plan.

As a leading mental health and addiction treatment hospital, Rebound Behavioral Health provides a wide range of programs that can meet the specific needs of each client. We offer a partial hospitalization program (PHP) for adults age 18 and older who are seeking structured treatment for mental health concerns and substance use disorders. After someone completes inpatient treatment, they may benefit from a structured step-down program that can help them transition out of care. For others who do not require an inpatient program, our PHP can provide the services they need. Unlike our inpatient programming, PHP care is offered only part of the day. This flexibility can allow clients to return home at the end of their sessions and services. However, we know that it may be difficult for some clients to leave each day, so we’re pleased to offer an on-site lodging option for adults who take part in our PHP. Clients who participate in our PHP can take advantage of the tranquil campus grounds and receive structured care while also enjoying downtime for personal reflection.

Trauma and PTSD Treatment Centers

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
