Muir Wood Adolescent and Family Services treats teen boys and girls ages 12 – 17 experiencing substance use and mental health conditions. Our campuses are beautiful, home-like settings in Sonoma County, Clovis and Riverside, California, where clients enjoy camaraderie, benefit from intensive integrated therapy, and enjoy recreation and experiential therapy activities. Boys and girls are treated and housed separately to eliminate drama and distraction. BNI Treatment Centers offers inpatient and residential substance abuse and mental health treatment programs that are physician owned and operated. BNI provides acute stabilization and 24/7 monitoring by an experienced medical team for conditions such as depression, anxiety, OCD, trauma, oppositional defiance, bipolar disorder, and most other mental health conditions.. For substance abuse and dual diagnosis conditions, BNI offers a medically monitored detoxification and rehabilitation program. The residential setting provides a safe and comfortable environment which helps the healing and recovery process.

At the residential level of care, teens live on-site in a comfortable home for an average of 30-60 days and receive 24/7 support and treatment. We incorporate multiple evidence-based practices including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), DBT Skills Training, Seeking Safety, Relapse Prevention, & Anger Management. Teens participate in individual/family therapy, psychiatry sessions, and learn coping skills to help them achieve lifelong recovery. We also integrate daily academic support and experiential therapies (e.g. equine, surf, art, drama, fitness, boxing, cooking, and yoga) into our structured daily schedule. For families from out of state, we offer family therapy via HIPAA-compliant video conference. Insurance covers up to 100 percent of the treatment and therapeutic modalities that Newport Academy offers. We accept all major insurance providers and work collaboratively with payers to optimize coverage for families. Many adolescents who receive treatment from Newport Academy using insurance coverage do so through a Single Case Agreement, a special contract through which out-of-network providers can work with a family’s insurance company on an In-Network basis. Newport Academy maintains a full-time, in-house team dedicated to supporting families through the mental health insurance coverage and financing process. In order to secure sufficient insurance coverage, we will most likely need to conduct a series of clinical reviews and any requested doctor-to-doctor calls with the insurance company. While other facilities may charge for this service, we feel it is our responsibility to assist families with what can be a complex process. Our goal is to ensure that families receive the maximum coverage, so they can access the highest-quality treatment.
