Accredited Academics
Youth Care Treatment Center, located in Draper, Utah, provides quality education services for adolescents ages 11-17 who are participating in our residential treatment program. Our academic program is fully accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges and is designed to cater to the individual needs of students who are struggling with substance use concerns and mental health disorders. Our certified educators are highly experienced in working with gifted students, adolescents who have learning disabilities, and those facing behavioral challenges. Through our education program, we strive to equip each student with the skills and knowledge for lasting success. Upon enrollment in our academic program at Youth Care, students complete an educational assessment conducted by our teachers. This assessment is designed to determine each student’s academic level and to inform the development of their individualized class schedule. Our academic curriculum is aligned with the Utah State Core Curriculum and offers more than 60 diverse classes for student participation. Therapeutic Support
At Youth Care, we understand how important it is for our students to continue their education while receiving therapeutic interventions. Our academic program is closely tied to each student’s therapeutic behavior modification plan, and their behavior and academic performance determine the kinds of activities and privileges they can enjoy. While enrolled in our academic program, youths can earn educational credits, expand their knowledge, and prepare for the future. Youth Care students participate in a full-day curriculum and attend classes that correspond to their grade level and therapeutic goals. Students can learn valuable skills, such as memorization, assignment tracking, note-taking, and test preparation. Our teachers receive support from on-site psychologists, social workers, and therapists who are available to address mental health concerns outside of academics. Recreational therapists, teacher aides, special educators, and primary teachers meet weekly to assess each student’s progress. Students can also enjoy off-campus field trips, cultural arts activities such as plays, and a variety of hands-on projects like crafts and math manipulatives. Our Treatment Center
For more than three decades, Youth Care Treatment Center in Draper, Utah, has been a premier provider of academic programs for young people who are struggling with substance use and mental health challenges to ensure that they don’t fall behind in their education. We provide academic support and mental health treatment in a warm, homelike environment only 20 miles from Salt Lake City, Utah. The teachers at Youth Care are committed to each student’s success and support them in making strides toward earning a high school diploma, passing the GED, or meeting other academic goals. Students in our academic program are taught the art of effective learning and given opportunities to apply these skills to their daily lives. Our campus has four coed homes and a large outdoor area that has basketball and volleyball courts, exercise equipment, fire pits, and a large pavilion. During their time at Youth Care, students have the opportunity to do chores and learn how to treat others as they would want to be treated.
