About Agape Christian Counseling
The word "agape" signifies God's unconditional love for us and likewise, we try to extend the same love and care for our clients as we walk beside them on their journey of healing and growth. Agape Christian Counseling provides professional counseling from a Christian perspective. Our counselors are fully or provisionally licensed counselors in the state of North Carolina who are trained in individual, marriage and family counseling. Our counselors work with children, adolescents, and adults and provide individual, family and marriage counseling. We are qualified in addressing the issues of anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, parenting, marital difficulties or family discord. While taking an integrative approach to therapy, we welcome all people who seek counseling, regardless of religious background. We offer in person, phone and video counseling sessions. Appointments
To schedule an appointment with a therapist, please call our intake coordinator at 704-849-0144, 9am to 5pm Monday through Thursday or 9am to 2pm on Fridays. If you happen to call after hours, you will be forwarded to our voicemail. You may leave your name and telephone number and someone will return your call as soon as possible. If you have been referred to a specific therapist (perhaps upon the recommendation of someone you trust), we will gladly schedule an appointment for you with that person. If you don't have a specific therapist in mind, then you may wish to look over the bios on our staff page at www.agapechristiancounseling.org/staff to learn more about our therapists' education, training, specialty areas and experience. If you are unsure, you are welcome to call our office and briefly describe your situation so that our intake coordinator may assist you in making a decision. We are in network with BCBS, Medcost, and Tricare. If you are planning to file on out-of-network basis, we will provide you with a statement that you can use to file for reimbursement with your insurance company. We suggest discussing the pros and cons of using insurance with your therapist. What Should I Expect On My First Visit?
We are glad that you have chosen Agapé Christian Counseling to assist you. Regardless of the reason you came to us, we look forward to your visit. We want you to know that we value your privacy and want to see you receive the professional help that you need. Once you have made your first appointment, we will e-mail you the necessary forms to complete and directions for your office or virtual visit. You will then bring those completed forms with you to give to your counselor or send them back electronically before your first appointment. A typical session lasts for 50 to 60 minutes, although your first session may last a little longer. There also may be situations where you and your therapist may decide to schedule longer sessions. During your first visit, your counselor will take time to listen to your story and explore your goals for coming to counseling. You and your counselor will usually come up with some ways of how to achieve those goals in your future sessions.
