Benefits of Medication-Assisted Treatment
At Elkton Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC), we offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for adults age 18 and older who are suffering from addictions to heroin, fentanyl, prescription painkillers, and other opioids. While some methadone clinics just provide medication to help people stop opioid use, our CTC offers methadone and counseling services to promote lasting recovery. Methadone is an FDA-approved prescription medication that can alleviate the painful withdrawal symptoms people may experience when they quit using opioids. The therapy component of MAT can give patients the chance to address the emotional aspects of recovery. By receiving medication and therapy as part of MAT, patients can improve their functioning, avoid relapse, and achieve lasting recovery from opioid addictions. We offer MAT as a flexible outpatient service, so people can receive treatment while continuing with their daily schedules. What To Expect
When you receive care at Elkton CTC, our expert team of compassionate professionals will work with you to create an individualized treatment plan. To begin treatment at our CTC, you will complete a thorough assessment of your health, medical history, and past opioid use. This assessment will help us determine whether methadone is the appropriate medication for you. As part of the admissions process, we’ll also gain a better understanding of your treatment goals and outline your schedule for therapy services. The medication we use to ease the symptoms of opioid withdrawal can help people stop opioid use, but it doesn’t address the emotional and social aspects of recovery. We offer individual and group therapy to help our patients develop coping strategies and build a network of peer support. Medication-assisted treatment at our CTC combines medication with therapy to provide comprehensive care that can help our patients achieve lasting recovery from opioid use disorder.
