Adolescent Residential Treatment
Millcreek of Pontotoc, located in Pontotoc, Mississippi, offers residential treatment programs for children, adolescents, and young adults ages 6-21 who have mental health concerns and require a higher level of care than a typical outpatient treatment program can provide. Our residential program consists of three cottages situated on a spacious, 20-acre campus and is designed to address the intensive behavioral and educational needs of young people throughout northern Mississippi. Young people stay in cabins based on their age, gender, and specific needs. Typically, residents spend three to six months in residential treatment and receive schooling in our day treatment program. We believe that every young person deserves a nurturing and supportive environment where they can feel valued and can freely express themselves. To be eligible for residential treatment, youths must have a primary psychiatric diagnosis, have had unsuccessful inpatient or outpatient mental health treatment in the past, and obtain a letter of recommendation from a psychiatrist or another mental health professional within 60 days of admission. Treatment Approach
At our residential treatment center, children, adolescents, and young adults can receive personalized therapies that are tailored to their individual needs. During their time in residential treatment, youths can participate in daily group therapy, weekly individual therapy, and monthly family therapy sessions. Licensed therapists lead these sessions, which give students the opportunity to discuss concerns, track their treatment progress, and work on developing personal life skills. Group therapies are scheduled five days a week and cover a wide range of topics, such as peer pressure, impulse control, bullying and aggression, and goal setting. We incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and play therapy techniques into all our treatments. Participants attend our fully accredited, on-site therapeutic day school during treatment, and our teachers are dedicated to meeting each student’s academic needs. Our beautiful and spacious facilities feature private and shared rooms, large communal areas, a gym, a movie room, and designated areas for play therapy. We promote long-term wellness for each student.
