Counseling and Peer Support Groups
The Austin Center for Grief & Loss provides counseling services to individuals and families who have experienced grief or trauma due to the death of a loved one from illness, accident, suicide, or violence; along with those who have experienced loss due to divorce, separation, or postpartum depression. Austin Grief immediate action to broadly expand our mental health services via telehealth to meet the needs of people suffering extreme stress, anxiety, and other mental health impacts due to COVID and during this time of social unrest. People are experiencing loss of health, jobs, community, and sense of security. Austin Grief is here to meet those needs. Our professional counseling and therapy groups are provided by licensed therapists with highly-specific training in the areas of grief, loss, and trauma. We also provide on-going, donation-based peer support groups formed around specific types of loss (no ongoing fees to attend). Our agency strives to help anyone in need. We offer sliding scale fees and financial assistance for those who qualify.
Hope, Healing, and Transformation for Grief & Loss
Grief is a highly unique experience for each individual in response, intensity, and duration. For some, a significant loss or trauma may leave us feeling imbalanced, disorientated, and confused along with feelings of sadness, anger, and loneliness that surface in grief. The world may feel like it has been turned upside down. Grief can be an isolating experience and it may seem there is no one who really "gets it." We offer caring and a willingness to hold your pain because we truly understand.
Continuing Education/Workshops
The Austin Center for Grief & Loss offers several opportunities for the community to learn more about specific areas related to grief, loss, and trauma. We host Professional Conferences to train, educate, and support community members and other mental health professionals to better understand and work with grief and trauma. We also offer a support group facilitation training 2 times per year for those interested in volunteering with ACGL to become a support group facilitator. Evening peer support groups are ongoing and meet twice a month. Each group is facilitated by two trained volunteers and supervised by a licensed clinician. Groups are divided based on types of loss. To create a safe and supportive environment for our group members, all new individuals must schedule an intake/orientation with a one-time fee prior to their first group meeting. Our support groups are donation based; there are no ongoing fees to attend. Childcare is available for children under the age of five. Telehealth Therapy-based Support Groups

Telehealth Therapy-based Support Groups will consist of 8 group members and be led by a trained, licensed therapist. The Therapy-based Support Groups will begin the first week in April and meet for 6 weekly, 50 minute sessions. All telehealth services are completely HIPAA compliant, confidential, and secure.
