As a leading nonprofit provider of substance use and co-occurring mental health services, Phoenix House Florida (PHFL) in Brandon treats teens age 13-17 at our Derek Jeter Center and adults at our Outpatient Center. Our Outpatient Programs utilize evidence-based practices and combine assessment, evaluation, relapse prevention and social skills training, individual and group counseling, toxicology screenings, and other treatment as needed. The Brandon Outpatient provides customized outpatient (OP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) for individuals. At our adult outpatient counseling center in Brandon we also offer Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program that uses medications, in combination with behavioral therapies to treat the whole person.

ANR approaches opioid dependency based on the pathophysiology and neuropharmacology vis-à-vis normal brain function and examines the interaction and relationship that would normally exist prior to the neuroadaptation and alteration that has now ensued from nervous system exposure to opioids. Individuals who develop an opioid dependency through the use of exogenous opioids suppress natural endorphin production while simultaneously inducing the nervous system to increase the number of active endorphin/opioid receptors. With increasing use and abuse, this develops into a vicious self-perpetuating cycle. As more and more receptors are induced, the individual requires greater and greater amounts of opioids/narcotics to quench their neuro-biochemical demand.

Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) combines the use of prescription medication with counseling sessions to promote long-term opioid addiction recovery. MAT can minimize the effects of physical withdrawal, allowing a person to focus on the psychological component of addiction recovery. MAT has been widely studied and proved to be effective in treating opioid addiction. At Longwood Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC), we believe in the healing potential of MAT, and we provide MAT services for adults age 18 and older who are battling symptoms of opioid use disorder. We offer individual and group therapy sessions that can give you the opportunity to build a strong support system during your time at our treatment center.
