Originally developed at the University of Washington by Marsha Linehan, Ph.D., DBT was first designed to treat interpersonal chaos, intense emotional swings, impulsiveness, confusion about the self (identity), and suicidal behavior. It is based on a bio-social theory that states that problems develop from the interaction of biological factors (physiological makeup) and environmental factors (learning history), which together create difficulty managing emotions. DBT is therefore appropriate for a range of additional problems that relate to emotion dysregulation such as depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, anger-related problems, and substance use problems. A great deal of research has been conducted on the effectiveness of DBT and, in general, DBT appears as effective or more effective than other “talk based” psychotherapies for the problems mentioned above.

Zinnia Serenity Lodge is a Men's Only Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facility, for those 18 and over, who are struggling with alcoholism, drug addiction and co-occurring disorders. Zinnia Serenity Lodge offers 30, 60 and 90 day plans (and beyond) depending on the needs of the individual. We offer residential treatment, partial hospitalization treatment and intensive outpatient treatment plans, each one tailored to meeting the individual need of each patient. We offer life direction, guidance and tools for everyday living. Unlike other programs, SI: LA truly treats paired sex addiction and chemical dependency. Often addicts struggle with relapse as their paired addiction behaviors are not addressed in treatment/therapy. For some men, chronic infidelity is hurting their relationship and yet they can't stop. For men who have recently discovered that they have an issue with sex addiction/intimacy disorders or who have had some period of recovery but have relapse(s), the SI: LA program provides an solid foundation of recovery in a 14 day program. For those needing trauma healing or additional time, there is an opportunity to extend for another 7 or 14 days.
