Integrity, Leadership and Community
Adolescent & Young Adult Advocates (A2) is an innovative Outpatient, Intensive Outpatient Program and Partial Hospitalization Program specializing in the treatment of adolescents, Young Adults, and adults with substance abuse, mental health, and social issues. The A2 staff is a group of highly trained, qualified professionals. Our philosophy is to live in integrity, lead by example and create a strong sense of self and community. We are committed to restoring balance and integrity in our clients' family, academic and social lives. A2 is a community comprised of a network of adolescents, young adults, and families who are focused on changing their lives by working through negative emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. Our clients are like teammates rooting for each other's success, relying on one another and our staff for support. Parents and families are an important part of our community, too, and their involvement is crucial to the treatment process.
A Unique Outpatient Model
A2 utilizes a unique treatment model, created by Patti Anne McAndrews, focused on creating a therapeutic community rather than simply treating specific dysfunctions. Our system demands hard work - we are not just talk therapy. Our treatment process constantly evolves through a variety of paradigms with input from the staff team, the client, the family and any psychiatrist or physician involved with the client. Adolescent Advocates' commitment to the success of our clients also involves working with schools, hospitals and treatment facilities both locally and across the country, as needed.
Evaluation and Treatment
The Adolescent & Young Adult Advocates treatment process begins with a comprehensive evaluation, which involves participation of both the client and the parents or guardians (when appropriate), and continues to be refined over the first two weeks of treatment. We offer multiple levels of care including Partial Hospitalization for Adolescents (4 days a week 4-6 hours a day) Intensive outpatient (14+ 3 days a week 2-3 hours a day) and Outpatient (14+ 1-2 groups a week) All of our clients attend weekly individual sessions and can schedule regular family sessions. A2 groups are split between, high school and college-age students and/or Adults. Our bi-weekly community group is an opportunity for parents and clients to work together as a group. A2 treatment plans are based on the needs of the individual clients and include age-appropriate goals.
