One of America's longest-running, not-for-profit outpatient treatment centers, we are a New York State OASAS licensed, medically supervised outpatient recovery center located in midtown Manhattan. We offer confidential, highly personalized, comprehensive and innovative care to the families and individuals affected by substance abuse and alcoholism. Our clinical services focus on adolescents, young adults, and adults including working professionals. We are an abstinence-based program and our model is dedicated to long-term recovery and wellness for the whole family. We use evidenced-based clinical approaches and incorporate family systems work whenever possible. Our multidisciplinary team is trained in a wide variety of modalities, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Somatic Experiencing (SE), EMDR, and Psychodrama.
We offer a range of services tailored to meet the needs of each age group and stage of life, including a social-emotional wellness and prevention program, providing assessment and early-intervention in NYC independent schools, adolescent treatment services, a highly-structured Intensive Outpatient Program for young adults and adults, treatment for professionals, a well-established family program, and problem gambling services.

Sober Support

Our Sober Support Group is for men and women who are unsure as to whether or not recovery is for them. Utilizing the Motivational Interviewing clinical process, we offer a safe and non-judgmental environment for people to explore the role that substance use plays in one's life. This is a 10-week group and abstinence commitment.

Mindfulness Meditation Group for People in 12 Step

Meditation and Mindfulness are proven tools to support recovery. One of the most effective ways to practice meditation is to participate in regular group meditations. Freedom Institute's Meditation and Mindfulness for People in Recovery is a group focused on learning meditation and mindfulness skills to support recovery and relapse prevention and is especially tailored to those in 12 Step recovery programs. The group is appropriate for both beginning and seasoned meditators and all stages of recovery.

DBT skills based IOP

Morning Group: 3 days a week for 3 hours and lasts for 8 weeks. Clients are taught DBT skills which are extremely effective in early recovery. Evening Group: 3 days a week for 2 hours and last for 12 weeks. Curriculum is the same; clients learn DBT skills and new ways of coping with cravings.
