“Muir Wood is a State of California, adolescent, gender-specific, residential treatment program for boys ages 12-18 with substance abuse and co-occurring behavioral health issues. Located on six idyllic acres in Sonoma County, CA, Muir Wood only treats six adolescent males at any one time. Key components of Muir Wood include the family centric program model which includes weekly individual family therapy sessions and a full day Saturday family program; a highly credentialed clinical team including board-certified psychiatrists, internist, Masters level and licensed therapists, registered nurses, and certified chemical dependency counselors; on-site classroom and Masters level, multiple-subject credentialed teachers; psychological testing and assessment; a weekly adventure-based therapeutic component with credentialed adventure-based therapists; and intensive individual and group therapy sessions. Muir Wood has a minimum length of stay of 45 days and works with insurance providers on an out-of-network basis.

We use an Intuitive eating approach to working with re-feeding and normalizing the eating plans for each client. On Mondays the meals are prepared with the dietitian or we go out to a restaurant. The other days hot meals are brought in and eaten family style with our caring and highly trained staff. Vegetarian options are available. The program also includes a weekly individual therapy session, a dietary consultation and a Multi-Family Therapy and Support Group. All individual appointments are setup before or after program so that each client can take part in the full program.

INPATIENT TREATMENT: WHAT'S INVOLVED?
Residential Inpatient treatment in Contra Costa County usually consists of 24 hour care at a live-in facility. Full treatment services, including medical and behavioral therapy are provided all at one location near Contra Costa County.
Medical supervision is generally placed over each resident. In drug treatment centers, clients can detox safely. In eating disorder centers in Contra Costa County, residential programs enable effective monitoring of the client's health during the treatment program.
Inpatient care offers a structured atmosphere and allows the client and providers to focus on physical and psychological healing.
OUTPATIENT TREATMENT: WHAT'S INVOLVED?
Outpatient treatment programs in Contra Costa County or clinics provide flexibility to those who are unable to take time away from their regular lives, work or school. Programs typically meet at the clinic a couple of times every week for a few hours at a time.
Because clients are living away from the centers, outpatient facilities in Contra Costa County are less able to focus on medical conditions and nutritional needs.
