Substance Abuse Treatment Centers in Atlanta
“Dr. Roland Reeves, MD and his medical team at Destin Recovery use evidence-based medicine and treat addiction as a chronic disease. We treat the disease of addiction and substance abuse with the same rigorous methodology as you would treat diabetes, heart disease or depression. Your treatment involves the latest science that combines medical therapy and private, one-on-one counseling. This complex disease involves changes in the structure and function of the brain. Your treatment will involve the mind, body, and soul. This requires not only therapists and peer groups, but the ongoing involvement of a physician. Dr. Reeves, MD, is committed to helping individuals RECOVER. Destin Recovery offers real treatment to people with drug and alcohol addiction problems though the various transitional stages of recovery and moves them towards being a self-managed individual in control of their own life. Our Rehabilitation Center's evidence-based medical approach to recovery incorporates a variety of treatment programs that ultimately focus on learning or regaining life skills that enable long-term recovery and prevent relapse.

“Suboxone is the first opioid medication approved under a new Federal law called DATA 2000 for the treatment of opioid dependence in an office-based setting. Suboxone also can be dispensed for take-home use, just as any other medicine for other medical conditions. The primary active ingredient in Suboxone is buprenorphine. Buprenorphine acts upon the brain's opioid receptors in a limited way as compared with those produced by full opioid agonists, such as oxycodone or heroin. Because of these properties, buprenorphine can relieve pain and stop cravings without adverse effects of tolerance (needing higher and higher doses) and altered mental states (e.g., euphoria, drowsiness). Suboxone also contains naloxone, an opioid antagonist - opioid antagonists are medicines that block the opioid receptors. When Suboxone is placed under the tongue, as directed, very little naloxone reaches the bloodstream, so the patient receives the effect of the buprenorphine. However, if naloxone is injected, it can cause a person dependent on opiates to quickly go into withdrawal which prevents the suboxone from being misused.

“For some, sexuality that was once pleasurable becomes increasingly harder to control and enjoy in a safe, sane, and consensual manner. There are many names for out-of-control sexual behavior, including "sex addiction" "sexual compulsivity" and "love addiction", but when you look at the underlying behavior, the same elements are usually present.

Inpatient or Outpatient Treatment
INPATIENT TREATMENT: WHAT'S INVOLVED?
Residential Inpatient treatment in Atlanta usually consists of 24 hour care at a live-in facility. Full treatment services, including medical and behavioral therapy are provided all at one location near Atlanta.
Medical supervision is generally placed over each resident. In drug treatment centers, clients can detox safely. In eating disorder centers in Atlanta, residential programs enable effective monitoring of the client's health during the treatment program.
Inpatient care offers a structured atmosphere and allows the client and providers to focus on physical and psychological healing.
OUTPATIENT TREATMENT: WHAT'S INVOLVED?
Outpatient treatment programs in Atlanta or clinics provide flexibility to those who are unable to take time away from their regular lives, work or school. Programs typically meet at the clinic a couple of times every week for a few hours at a time.
Because clients are living away from the centers, outpatient facilities in Atlanta are less able to focus on medical conditions and nutritional needs.
Certain programs provide a combination of the in/out approach: Inpatient for medical stabilization, partial hospitalization for moderate cases, intensive outpatient programs, and outpatient clinics for follow-up.
