Because the goal of inpatient treatment is to help individuals regain a sense of control and safety, most people usually only stay for about six days. During this time, they typically participate in group therapy sessions that address topics related to their goals. These sessions often integrate evidence-based methods such as dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and the 12 Steps of recovery.
