Evolve offers evidence-based treatment to adolescents 12-17 struggling with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, self-harm or high-risk behaviors, suicidal ideation, and other mental health/behavioral issues. Our residential treatment center in Los Angeles offers a warm, accepting environment where teens can stabilize and learn practical ways to improve their emotion regulation, impulse control, and distress tolerance skills. Teens participate in individual/family therapy multiple times a week, psychiatry sessions weekly, and daily groups on DBT Skills Training, Anger Management, Relapse Prevention, and Seeking Safety. Families from out-of-state participate in family therapy remotely. TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation), is a safe, non-invasive, effective treatment option for individuals suffering from Major Depressive Disorder who have not seen satisfactory results from antidepressants. These pulses will feel like tapping on the scalp. When delivered at the correct frequency and intensity, the pulses create localized electromagnetic fields which have the ability to stimulate nerve cells in the brain. Although treatment plans are individualized, the typical course of treatment is 5 times a week, for 6 weeks. Each individual treatment session takes approximately 20 minutes to complete, and patients can resume daily activities immediately after treatment. TMS does not use anesthesia, and patients are fully alert for the duration of the treatment session. TMS can be used as a stand-alone therapy, or in conjunction with medication and psychotherapies. TMS does not have the same side effects as traditional medications, and is generally well tolerated. The most common side effects are mild headache and sensitivity at the site of stimulation.

Addiction is a multilayered and complex condition. It is a physical, psychological, social, and very personal behavioral disorder. There are many treatment options offered by programs with very different treatment philosophies. All of this can make recovery seem daunting. At a time when the chance of drug overdose for people under 50 is higher that the chance of dying from COVID, we believe that all evidence-based treatment options should be offered. At our center we offer cutting edge addiction treatments led by our founder, Joseph Volpicelli MD, PhD. During his time as a Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, he developed naltrexone to treat people with alcohol addiction. He also developed and wrote a book on how to best integrate psychosocial treatment with medications.
