About Cedar Crest Hospital
For over 25 years, Cedar Crest Hospital and Residential Treatment Center has been a leading provider of high-quality behavioral healthcare, addiction, and support services throughout central Texas. Through a variety of mental health and chemical dependency programs, Cedar Crest provides evidence-based treatment for children, adolescents, adults, senior adults, and their families in a safe, confidential, and supportive environment. Nestled in the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains, our treatment center offers a calm, secure, and serene environment to overcome one's dependency on drugs and develop the skills needed to get clean and stay sober. We strive to provide a warm and comforting environment for our patients by offering a home-like atmosphere with a full-sized gym, walking trails, and a swimming pool. For our adolescent patients, we also have a low-elements ropes course designed to help patients learn the value of teamwork while working on problem-solving skills and communication skills. Whatever your chemical dependency concerns may be, Cedar Crest is devoted to giving each and every patient the personalized care he or she deserves.
Signs and Symptoms of Substance Abuse
People who are addicted to drugs may experience a drop in school or work performance, or may start to have chronic absences from work or school completely. These individuals may have an inexplicable need for money, begin frequently fighting with those around them, and may make sudden changes in the friends they keep. People abusing substances are also likely to experience significant alterations in their personalities as the substances begin to rule their minds. Individuals struggling with chemical dependency may display sudden and extreme mood swings, go through periods of inexplicable hyperactivity, may act irritable, agitated, and excessively angry, may appear lethargic, or may act fearful, anxious, and/or paranoid without any logical reason. These people may also demonstrate a lack of motivation and may no longer be interested in things and activities that they were once interested in. They may suffer from memory impairment, disorientation, confusion, or altered states of perception. Additionally, people who are addicted to drugs will typically display a variety of physical changes, depending upon their drug of choice. These changes can include blood shot eyes, dilated or restricted pupils, slurred speech, impaired coordination, tremors, nausea, vomiting, and extreme weight loss.
Treatment Options
For adolescents, we offer an inpatient program where the medical staff is dedicated to creating a healing, safe, and stable environment that will allow children and teens to recover, develop insight into their challenges, and to learn the skills needed to maintain a life of sobriety. We also offer a residential treatment center for adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17 who have not responded successfully to other types of therapeutic interventions and need a higher, more intensive level of care. Additionally, children and adolescents can participate in our partial hospitalization program, which is a therapeutic day treatment program that can assist those individuals who do not require the intensive care of an inpatient setting. Our Legacy Adult Chemical Dependency Program offers intensive inpatient care specifically designed to treat those who are dependent on substances. Centered on the 12-step model for recovery, we work with patients to help them develop the tools needed to overcome their addictions, cope with stressors, and prevent relapse. Additionally, our Military Patriot Program provides innovative interventions that have been specially designed to help military service members from all branches of the United States Military.
