Residential Treatment
Millcreek Behavioral Health, located in Fordyce, Arkansas, is a psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF) for children and adolescents ages 6-17. Our residential program helps individuals who are struggling with behavioral health concerns and co-occurring addictions. We strive to meet each young person where they are in their healing journey by providing them with a safe environment where they can grow. Our programming offers each patient the chance to address behavioral and emotional concerns while learning tools for continued success. During their time with us, patients work with a diverse team of professionals, which may include psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, nutritionists, certified teachers, and case managers. The length of time a patient stays in our residential program depends on their individual needs, goals, and progress. However, most patients stay at our PRTF for four to six months. Our case managers provide support by helping patients transition to a less restrictive level of care or back to their regular routines after they complete treatment.
Population Served
At Millcreek Behavioral Health, our PRTF serves children and adolescents who are struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), conduct disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), intermittent explosive disorder, self-harm, schizophrenia, reactive attachment disorder, and oppositional defiant disorder (ODD). We are also equipped to care for young people who have co-occurring substance use disorders. To qualify for admission to our PRTF, patients must have a primary diagnosis of a behavioral health disorder and a recommendation for residential treatment from their primary care doctor or outpatient therapist. We also accept patients who were referred to us by the Arkansas Department of Human Services or juvenile court. The patients we treat at our PRTF are typically in a situation where outpatient therapy is no longer effective, and they require long-term care to address their unique needs and remain safe.
What To Expect
At Millcreek Behavioral Health, we provide each young person with a comprehensive treatment plan that is personalized to their unique needs and therapeutic goals. Most patients at our PRTF participate in weekly individual therapy, family therapy twice a month, and group therapy four times a week. A team of licensed counselors and case managers facilitates these therapies and incorporates principles of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and The Seven Challenges counseling program into sessions. During their time with us, patients attend our on-site school five days a week. Here, they can receive focused, educational support from certified teachers. Patients have access to basic medical care and can receive weekly medication management services from our expert nursing staff. We also offer recreational therapy, art therapy, gym time, pet therapy, and various outdoor activities.
