In the past our practice has been mainly focused on youth and family services, and while that is still the case, we accept people of all denominations. At THIRA, we specialize in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and even have Dr. Kathryn Korslund (a key researcher and developer of DBT methods and training) on staff. Originally developed at the University of Washington by Marsha Linehan, Ph.D., DBT was first designed to treat interpersonal chaos, intense emotional swings, impulsiveness, confusion about the self (identity), and suicidal behavior. It is based on a bio-social theory that states that problems develop from the interaction of biological factors (physiological makeup) and environmental factors (learning history), which together create difficulty managing emotions. DBT is therefore appropriate for a range of additional problems that relate to emotion dysregulation such as depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, anger-related problems, and substance use problems. A great deal of research has been conducted on the effectiveness of DBT and, in general, DBT appears as effective or more effective than other “talk based” psychotherapies for the problems mentioned above.

Imagine by Northpoint is an outpatient mental health treatment center for adolescents ages 12-17 in Seattle, WA. Our treatment consists of a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP). We work with teens that suffer from mental health or behavioral conditions. We provide necessary coping skills and tools to transition back into their home, community and schooling system.

Adult, Young Adult (18-30), 50+, and Adolescent (13-17) PHP, partial hospitalization, programs. Using CBT and ACT programming, medication management, nursing groups, rec and music therapy, the Partial Hospitalization Program provides treatment for people struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD and other mood disorders. Patients participate in group therapy for six hours a day, five days per week. The Adolescent PHP program is available virtually or on-site.

Northpoint Washington offers residential substance use disorder treatment for adults 18+. Opal: Food + Body Wisdom is a locally owned eating disorder treatment center in the heart of Seattle's University District. We provide Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Outpatient services for people of all genders 18+ with eating disorders and disordered eating. Opal offers mental health counseling, nutrition counseling, family therapy and psychiatric services at all levels of care. We now provide non-clinical, free lodging for our PHP and IOP clients. At Opal clients receive holistic, relational based care that is responsive to research and grounded in a Health at Every Size approach. We are in-network with most major insurance companies.

Our treatment center offers specialty Psychiatry services TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) and Spravato (esketamine) for treatment-resistant depression cases.
